In October 2026 OpenCode made two strong Flash models free: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (updated to 1017 on Oct 19) and MiniMax M3.1 Flash (released Oct 19, the model formerly known as Space Bunny). We gave both the same three prompts inside OpenCode, one run each, no help, and spent nothing. Cards that needed a fix say so. Everything runs in your browser.
A 3D drift racer on a neon street circuit: wet asphalt, tyre smoke, drift score, lap timer, minimap, WebAudio engine, autopilot.
No fixes. Rain on wet asphalt, a neon skyline, handbrake drifts with smoke and a drift bank, off-circuit auto-reset. It did not add the window.game test hooks or the autopilot we asked for.
Fixed (one line, marked in src/car.js): the acceleration was computed but never applied, so the car could not move. Original published as drift-minimax-original. No test hooks / autopilot either.
A fictional palm-sized AI device drawn in code: reactive light ring, features on scroll, "how it listens", colours, specs, FAQ.
No fixes, no errors. Light ring that follows the pointer, calm / focus / alive moods, specs. It left out the colour picker and the FAQ we asked for.
Fixed (one line, marked in assets/script.js): the start-up code ran before its data existed and crashed, so FAQ, privacy switch, reserve form and parallax never started. Original published as landing-minimax-original.
"How a free AI model reaches your laptop": kinetic type, icons and diagrams drawn in code, a WebAudio soundtrack, play and replay.
No fixes. Five scenes (data centre, open weights, a tiny request, the editor that writes itself, title card), synth soundtrack, replay. No window.app hook.
No fixes. Six scenes ending on a local terminal, scrub bar, sound. Note: it labels Llama 3.1 as Apache 2.0, which is not Llama's licence.
One opencode run per build (OpenCode 1.19.3, free tier, models opencode/deepseek-v4.1-flash-free and opencode/minimax-m3.1-flash-free),
in a sandbox folder: the agent could read and write files there, nothing else (no shell, no web). Cost: $0 for both.
| Model | Build | Time | Cost | Fixes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek V4.1 Flash-1017 | Night-city drift | 17.0 min | $0 | - |
| MiniMax M3.1 Flash | Night-city drift | 31.7 min | $0 | 1 line |
| DeepSeek V4.1 Flash-1017 | Halo One: a hardware launch page | 19.8 min | $0 | - |
| MiniMax M3.1 Flash | Halo One: a hardware launch page | 7.5 min | $0 | 1 line |
| DeepSeek V4.1 Flash-1017 | A 30-second motion explainer | 17.7 min | $0 | - |
| MiniMax M3.1 Flash | A 30-second motion explainer | 58.0 min | $0 | - |
