This policy explains what personal data ruocco.it collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the whole site: the news articles, the AI demos at ruocco.it/ai-demos and the Ruocco Academy (which also has its own membership privacy notice).
Who is responsible
The data controller is Vito Ruocco. For anything about your data, write to academy@ruocco.it.
What we collect and why
- Server and security logs. When you open a page, the server records your IP address, browser, the page requested and the time. The Wordfence security plugin uses the same data to block attacks. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure. Logs are deleted automatically after a short period.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and demos are read. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser. Legal basis: your consent. In the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland these cookies are set only after you click “Accept all” in the cookie banner; if you reject, Google receives only cookieless, anonymous signals.
- Comments. If you comment, we store the name, email address, website and comment text you enter, plus your IP address and browser, to show the comment and fight spam. An anonymised string made from your email (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture. Legal basis: your consent, given by submitting the comment. Comments stay published until you ask us to remove them.
- Academy membership. Account and payment data are described in the Academy privacy notice. Card payments are handled by Stripe; card details never reach us.

Advertising
Some pages may show ads served by Google (Google AdSense). Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. In the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland, personalised ads and advertising cookies are used only with your consent. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info. More on how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Embedded content and third parties
- YouTube videos in articles use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com): YouTube sets no cookies until you press play. Once you play a video, Google’s privacy policy applies.
- Google Fonts and YouTube thumbnails are loaded from Google’s servers, which therefore receive your IP address.
- AI demos run entirely in your browser. Some may load code libraries from public content delivery networks (such as jsDelivr, cdnjs or unpkg), which receive your IP address. Nothing you do inside a demo is sent to us.
Google is based in the United States and transfers data there under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Who else sees your data
Our hosting provider, Google (Analytics, and advertising where shown), Automattic (Gravatar, for commenters) and Stripe (Academy payments). We do not sell your data.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and you can withdraw consent at any time (for cookies, with Cookie settings). Write to academy@ruocco.it. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
